Remote Hands On-site Tech support with UltraVNC SingleClick – Free!

If you need the spontaneous possibility to accessa remote PC (e.g. tech support for a customer, or for dad’s PC), using costly products like WebEx or LogMeIn at $50-$100 per month is not always a cheap option…

But there is another solution: UltraVNC Single Click. It’s a small software that you pre-configure and send it to the customer (or dad) via email. They start it and – you have a connection.

What you need:

  • 2 Windows computers. Dad or your customer must have a Windows PC and so must you.
  • An open port 5500 accessible from the internet. The mini server is going to initiate a connection to the viewer listening on your computer. Before you get started, make sure port 5500 on your computer’s IP address is reachable.

The advantage here is that the person running the server doesn’t have to worry about opening ports on his computer or firewall – since the server makes the call out, the connection can happen regardless.
