Online test of download time of a website

The Pingdom Monitoring service (yes, I am mentioning a competitor here 🙂 ) offer a nice tool. Just enter a URL and it shows you the download time for the HTML and all objects.

From the download times I saw with some websites it look like the server is located in Europe.

One bug: it downloads ALL CSS images and doesn’t check the webpage’s HTML against the CSS to find out which images the webpage would really load. But that’s not too much of a problem.

Here is the test for our company website www.paessler.com:

There is a similar service at www.websiteoptimization.com  which only loads the CSS images and thius produces better results. This service is apparently located in the US.
